Shipper & Consignee
Where this destination differs from standard practice
- • Foreign consignees are not accepted — a locally-registered entity must be named.
Consignee must be a registered Malawian commercial entity with an active 8-digit TPIN issued by MRA. "To Order" B/Ls are permitted provided the Notify Party is the registered local buyer or licensed transit forwarder with full physical address in Blantyre or Lilongwe, local phone number, and TPIN stated on the B/L. PO Box only is rejected.
Non-Compliance Risk at Destination
Regulated goods arriving without an origin MBS CoC incur a mandatory 15% to 20% CIF penalty plus destructive destination sampling holds at border posts. Transit cargo lacking an explicit B/L transit clause faces coastal customs bond suspension at Beira or Dar es Salaam.
