Shipper & Consignee
Where this destination differs from standard practice
- • Foreign consignees are not accepted — a locally-registered entity must be named.
Consignee for domestic imports must be a registered Benin entity with a valid 13-digit IFU. For transit shipments, a foreign consignee is allowed provided an accredited Beninese transit agent is designated in Notify. Full physical address and contact details required.
Non-Compliance Risk at Destination
Arrival without validated BESC incurs a fine of double the BESC cost plus a 50,000 XOF administrative penalty per B/L. Cargo transiting Cotonou to Niger, Burkina Faso, or Mali requires an explicit transit clause and two separate tracking certificates.
